Shape Your World with God’s Words

Our words can hurt feelings and break hearts.  Our words can damage our relationships with others in the world around us.  The good news is that God has given us the ability to bless, encourage, and worship with our words.  Remember that death and life is in the power of the tongue (Proverbs 18:21) and with God’s help we can be a positive light in any situation by being careful about what we say and how we say it.  We need to watch the words that we say to ourselves and others.  Begin to speak the Word over your life, and the lives of others.  Use your words to bless, encourage, and edify.  Use words to build people up and not tear them down.  Be quick to hear, slow to speak, and slow to get angry (James 1:19). By doing so, you will preserve your mind, your body, and your spirit, as well alleviate stress in your life. Give it a try today!

Take care and be blessed!

Feeling Frustrated?

When I reflect upon my life, in particular situations where I was in the midst of  frustration, I realize that I was trusting myself to do what only God could do.  In fact, I was attempting to force my will, instead of accepting God’s perfect will in the situation.  It was only until I surrendered and committed the life issue to the Lord, did I experience His peace. I placed my trust in Him to do the right thing at the right time.

When you are feeling frustrated, know that God is working behind the scenes on your behalf.  Just trust Him and lean not to your own understanding.

4 L’s To Take Into the New Year!

There are only 20 days remaining before the new year.  Can you believe that in 21 days we will be in a new year and a new decade! Wow, it is amazing how time flies! Well, please consider taking the 4 L’s of life with you into the new year.  Here they are:

Live – Live life abundantly.  Living life abundantly does not necessarily equate to money or material possessions.  Start with being grateful for what you do have,  such as your peace,  your health, as well as family and friends. Everyone does have these valuable gifts and money certainly can not buy them!

Learn – Continue to learn and re-learn.  The word of God says do not conform to the patterns of this world but be transformed, by the renewing of your mind (Romans 12:2).

Love – Love one another.  One of my favorite scriptures is “Let no debt remain outstanding, except the continuing debt to love one another (Romans 13:8). Taking about “good debt” this is the only debt that I want to remain in!

Laughter – Laugh, Laugh, Laugh! Laughter is good for the body, as well as the soul and it relieves stressful situations.

Until next time, take care and be blessed!

Christmas Gift Suggestions

We spend so much time wrapping our gifts for each other in just the right paper, ribbon, and bow.  For what? So we can have a trash bag full of pretty colors on December 26? Well, I actually am guilty of doing this myself! It is something about the beauty all around us during the holiday season that makes me happy inside.  I would like for you to consider the following gift suggestions.  They will have an impact on others long after the holiday season.

Here they are:

To your enemy, forgiveness.

To an opponent, tolerance.

To a friend, your heart.

To a customer, service.

To all, charity.

To every child, a good example.

To yourself, respect.

Merry Christmas to you and your family and may God bless you in the New Year!

5 Truths To Remember About Disruptive Moments in Life

From time to time everyone have disruptive moments in life (unexpected life events).  When disruptive moments take a visit in your life, keep these 5 truths in mind.

  1. Disruptive moments are often divine appointments.
  2. Progress without pain is usually not possible.
  3. The promise of God is the provision of grace.
  4. Disruptive moments produce dynamic growth.
  5. What we receive from disruptive moments depends upon how we respond.

Remember that although it may not feel good when you are in the midst of a disruptive moment in your life , it is working for your good in the long run (Romans 8:28).

Is Your Marriage Set Apart?

When we commit ourselves to our spouse, we set ourselves apart for that person.  We don’t live with one foot in the marriage.  We are set aside as holy unto God and our spouse.  The biblical meaning of “holy” is to set something apart for a special purpose.

My husband and I will be celebrating 37 years of marriage on November 20 and although it has not been easy,  and has been filled with valley and mountain top experiences;  it has been well worth it and has been used for God’s glory.  In counseling and mentoring others I have heard the saying, “I didn’t sign up for this.”  Well, actually you did when you made the vow “for better or worse.”

Rededicate yourself today to be “set apart” in your marriage and in devotion to your spouse.

It is my prayer that.God be the Apex of your marriage and that you fall deeper in love with Him and each other for His glory.  Amen.

The Power of Your Words

As Christians, we should be reflecting light and love in all of our interactions with others.  It is important to speak positive, life-giving words of encouragement to our family and friends, as well as over our own lives.  So don’t be too hard on yourself or others. You see, words can lift us up or tear us down spiritually and mentally.

Make a decision today to encourage, edify, and build up your life and the lives of those around you,

Are You Listening?

God speaks to us in many different ways.  He may speak to us through an article,  sermon, through another person, or even in through your own thoughts.  He may also speak to us while we are reading the bible.  Have you ever opened the Word of God and turned to a scripture passage that spoke to your circumstances?  God wants to reveal things to you that you need to hear.  As you listen to Him, He will lead and guide you into what will produce peace in your life.

The question is, are you listening? (Proverbs 3:5-6).

5 Things To Do When You’re Feeling Stressed

Stress is a part of each our lives in some way or another and it will always be! What’s most important is how we react to it.  Here are 5 things to do when you are feeling stressed:

  1. Place Your Trust in God – Believe that God will take care of your situation in His perfect way and timing. (Isaiah 26:3)
  2. Humble Yourself  – Honestly come before God and let Him know you can’t do it on your own.  Recognize that you need His help to have success in any area of your life.  (Proverbs 3:-5-7)
  3. Give Your Cares to Him – God wants you to throw your cares and worries onto Him and allow Him to carry the weight of them. (1 Peter 5:6-7)
  4. Choose to Think and Say Positive, Faith-Filled Statements From God’s Word
  5. PUSH -(Pray Until Something Happens)!

Here is a quick prayer to help you get started:

Father God, I am not sure what to do about my situation, but I know that I can’t fix it on my own.  If there is something specific You want me to do, please show me.  Meanwhile, I am going to trust You and enjoy my life while You work on my problems.  In Jesus’ name, Amen.
